Suzanne Rastovac
Suzanne Rastovac is a researcher, curator, advisor and co-founder of BEYOND WALLS: a research and art collective of independent researchers, curators and visual storytellers with the focus on entangled colonial heritage and its meaning in today’s world. With Beyond Walls Suzanne works on multidisciplinary research & art projects and longterm collaborations centering (post)colonial & global history, art and storytelling.
She is an experienced, public-oriented curator and program maker. From activating public program series that address the impact of colonialism and slavery, such as Gepeperd Verleden to deconstructing frames and Blind Spots in curatorial museum practices and curating the artistic program of the August 15 National Remembrance Day. Community-based commemorating programs like BETA DISINI. Visual storytelling projects like DIASPORA, Afterlives of Revolusi and New Homes, and public heritage & history projects like Huizen van Aankomst. As a graduated historical researcher, she is dedicated to using her academic skills to contribute to a more complete understanding and representation of history.
